Armor - Final Fantasy 3
There are 64 armor pieces in Final Fantasy 3 Pixel Remaster split across body, shields, helms, and gloves. Job restrictions are tight: White Mages and Black Mages wear robes only, Monks are limited to martial gear, Knights load up on heavy plate, and the late-game Onion set is exclusive to Onion Knight.
The three pieces worth planning around:
- Onion set (Helm 40, Armor 60, Gauntlets 50, Shield 30): the highest raw defense in the game, but only Onion Knight can wear any of it. See the jobs page for how to unlock the class.
- Crystal set (Mail 55, Helm 31, Gloves 30, Shield 20): the strongest gear for the eight regular endgame jobs (Onion Knight included). Chests across Ancients’ Maze, Crystal Tower 6F-7F, and the hidden Eureka Sage shop.
- Ribbon (Helm 23): equippable by every job, blocks every status effect. Two copies in the game (Eureka B2 and the World of Darkness chest); pin them on whoever the final boss targets most.
Armor with elemental resistance lists what damage type it cuts. Items with a Casts entry trigger that spell when used as a battle item (Light Staff casts Thunder, etc.). The Special column also surfaces passive stat bonuses. Locations show chest spots first, then shop towns in story order.
