Millennial Fair Games & Prizes

The Millennial Fair celebrates 1000 years since Guardia's founding. It's also your tutorial area and the source of Silver Points - a currency you'll need for prizes at Norstein Bekkler's tent. Most importantly, you can win the Doppel Doll here, which is required to resurrect Crono later in the game. See the walkthrough chapter for story progression.

Silver Points

Silver Points (SP) are prizes from fairground games. You can trade them for gold at 10 SP for 50G, but don't - save them for Bekkler's tent. The prizes there include room decorations and the critical Doppel Doll.

Gato Fight

The singing robot west of Leene's Bell. Beat him in combat for 15 Silver Points, 10 XP, and 1 Tech Point. He's weak - Crono can solo him easily at level 1. If you lose, he mocks you and you revive with 1 HP. No penalty for losing, so there's no risk.

This is the fastest way to farm Silver Points. Three wins gets you 45 SP - enough for the Doppel Doll with some to spare. The Tech Points also help Crono learn Cleave early. His song will be stuck in your head for days. That's just how it goes.

Foot Race

Talk to the man in the tent on the east side of the entrance plaza. You're betting on runners, not racing yourself. Pick one of the contestants; if they win the lap around the merchants, you get 20 Silver Points on your first win.

The race outcome is random - the old man nearby gives hints, but they're not reliable. Here's the trick: you can run in front of the racers and press A to talk to them. This slows them down. Block the ones you didn't bet on and let your pick pull ahead.

After your first win, repeat victories only give 1 SP. Not worth grinding here when Gato gives 15 SP per fight.

Hammer Challenge

The bell-ringing game in the southwest area. Walk up to the bell and press A - you'll slide backward. When you reach the farthest point and start sliding forward again, press A to swing. Hit it at the perfect distance and you'll ring the bell for 1 Silver Point.

It's a timing game. Watch Crono's position; the moment he stops moving backward is when you press A. Slow and methodical beats mashing. But honestly, 1 SP per win is terrible efficiency. Use this if you're 1-2 SP short and don't want another Gato fight.

Guzzling Contest

East side of Leene's Bell area. Mash A as fast as possible to chug soda faster than your opponent. Win for 5 Silver Points.

If you have a turbo controller, this is easy. Without one, try rubbing a rounded object across the button - a pen cap works. Or just accept that your thumb will hurt. The 5 SP reward is decent but Gato's still faster overall.

Norstein Bekkler's Tent

The creepy tent in the northeast corner of the fair. Bekkler runs three games that cost Silver Points to enter. The prizes go to each character's "bedroom" - Crono's room, Marle's castle chambers, Lucca's room, Frog's hideout, and so on. You can win each prize once per character by making them the party leader.

Guess Who (10 SP)

Three soldiers (Biggs, Wedge, and Piette) enter and introduce themselves. They shuffle positions back and forth, then stop. Pick the one Bekkler names. It's a shell game - track your target through the shuffle.

Reward: Poyozo Doll. When you interact with it, it plays the theme song of the character whose room it's in. Winning again with the same character gives Cat Food instead.

Copycat (40 SP)

A clone of your party leader appears. Mimic its actions in a game of Simon Says. Controls: L = left arm, R = right arm, Y = laugh, A = surprise. You'll hear a whoosh sound when the clone changes action - that's your cue to press the matching button.

The clone does 22 actions total. The timing gets faster as you progress; by the end you're pressing buttons every 1-2 seconds. If you press wrong or wait too long, you lose. Watch for the sprite flicker when it repeats the same action - you still need to press the button again.

Reward: Doppel Doll (clone). This is the one you need for Crono's resurrection at Death Peak. The clone mimics your character's sprite positions when you interact with it. One clone per character; repeats give Cat Food.

Save Your Friend (80 SP)

Requires at least two party members. Bekkler captures one of your allies and dangles them over a flame while releasing three Kilwalas. You need to push the Kilwalas back through their gates while periodically hitting the blue light to raise your friend away from the fire.

Three blue dots in front of each Kilwala column push them back when activated. Each dot has a brief cooldown, so you'll rotate between them. The blue light on the far left (face upward to hit it) raises the rope. If you ignore the light too long, your friend burns. If the Kilwalas reach you, they swarm and disable you.

Strategy: Hold B and Up while running between dots, mashing A. Focus on eliminating the rightmost Kilwala first - this shrinks your running distance. You have about three seconds of safe time before the rope light appears, then five seconds before your friend burns. Don't look at the rope; count the timing in your head.

Reward: A cat that appears in Crono's house. You can win multiple cats (up to 11) - they follow you around. Repeat wins give Cat Food, which you can put in the bowl at home to attract more cats.

Character Reward Locations

Prizes go to the party leader's "bedroom." You can win each prize once per character by putting them in front.
