What Lies Beyond?
Exit Terra Cave and you'll notice the landscape has changed. There's now a chasm where the big chain attached to Mt. Woe; the mountain itself has become an island to the east. If you climb the chain from the bottom of Terra Cave (past where you fought the Beasts), you'll exit onto that island - but there's nothing to do there.
The Magic Kingdom Revisited
This is your last chance to explore the Kingdom of Zeal before it crashes into the ocean. Make sure you've completed everything before moving on.
Kajar Shopping
Stop by Kajar before heading to the palace. Talk to the Nu running the shop; he'll ask if your pendant is really Schala's. Say no - if you say yes, he calls you a liar and won't sell anything. Lie to him and he'll offer the best equipment currently available.

You probably can't afford much. Frog's Pearl Edge is the best choice - it deals 1.5x damage against magic-type enemies, which includes most of what you'll face ahead. Pick based on who you like having in your party.
Boss: Dalton
Head to Zeal Palace. The Mammon Machine has been moved to the Ocean Palace underground. Dalton blocks your path and attacks.
Dalton
Dalton copies your attack styles and counters with Iron Orb, which halves your HP. He's more annoying than dangerous - until you get complacent.
- Iron Orb halves your HP; it's his only real attack during the fight
- He counters with it too, so expect frequent HP cuts
- The danger is getting lulled - since Iron Orb only halves HP, you feel safe
- When he dies, he uses Burp for ~125 damage to everyone
- Keep HP above 150 throughout; have Robo or Frog heal regularly
- Quick kill: Crono/Frog/Marle's Arc Impulse deals ~1,500 damage - two of those plus one attack ends it
After the fight, Dalton vanishes and a gate-like portal appears. It's actually an elevator that takes you underground to the Ocean Palace.
