The Hero Appears
Head through Truce Canyon from the End of Time; the monsters have changed since your first visit. Blue Imps now fight alongside Green Imps. Talk to townspeople to learn about a legendary hero, then head to Zenan Bridge to find the soldiers need supplies.
Zenan Bridge Crisis
At Zenan Bridge, talk to the Knight Captain (the soldier in gold armor). The king was injured fighting Magus's army, and the troops are without rations. Head to Guardia Castle to get supplies.
Getting the Jerky. Enter Guardia Castle and go to the kitchen in the basement - follow the right corridor to the northeast door. Talk to the chef and let the dialogue play out completely. Leave the kitchen and head back toward the entrance. The chef will come running to give you Jerky for the soldiers and a Power Tab for your trouble. If he doesn't appear, make sure you talked to the soldiers at Zenan Bridge first and fully listened to the kitchen dialogue.
Delivering supplies. Return to Zenan Bridge and offer the Jerky to the Knight Captain. The food brightens their spirits, but moments later news arrives that Magus's forces are breaking through. The captain orders his men to stand guard. Talk to him and agree to help; he rewards you with a Gold Helm. Equip it and prepare for battle.
Defending Zenan Bridge
Start crossing the bridge. Deceased enemies kill Guardia soldiers, then Ozzie appears and pits you against his demons.
First wave. Two Deceased and Ozzie. The Deceased resist physical attacks, so use magic - or simply focus all attacks on Ozzie. Breaking his spell makes the Deceased disappear. Either approach works.
Second wave. Continue left and walk between the two corpses. Ozzie turns them into Deceased with an additional foe. Again, strike Ozzie for quick victory (144 XP, 8 TP, 160G).
Heal up for the boss. Ozzie threatens you, your party taunts back, and he summons an abomination made of deceased warriors behind you.
Zombor
Zombor has two parts with different elemental immunities. Its upper body absorbs Fire and Lightning; its lower body absorbs Shadow and Ice/Water.
- Upper body: Hit with Marle's Ice or Robo's lasers
- Lower body: Hit with Lucca's Fire or Crono's Lightning
- Crono's Cyclone (physical) safely hits both parts
- Don't use dual techs that target both halves with elements
- Keep HP above 50 - Zombor hits hard when one half dies
- MP Buster: When a half dies, it drains MP from whoever attacked last; rest at an inn soon after
After the Bridge
Naga-ette Bromide trade. If you grabbed the Naga-ette Bromide from the Cathedral earlier, head to the northernmost residence in the village just past the bridge. Try to open the locked chest in the top center. Talk to the old man near the table and trade him the Bromide for "something good." He unlocks the drawer; inside is a Magic Tab.
Fiona's Villa. Head south toward Porre, stopping at Fiona's Villa (the lone house). Open both chests for 2 Mid-Ethers. Talk to Fiona for backstory about the desert; this becomes relevant in a side quest later.
Porre Market. Continue south to Porre. In the market, grab the Power Tab on the floor on the left side of the room. Check out the Gold Suits and Berets available here - solid upgrades if you have gold to spare.
Cursed Woods
Head northwest from Porre to find the Cursed Woods. A sign says "No trespassing, gribbit." Grab the Mid-Potion and Shelter from chests as you head north. If you attack the snakes here, they eat the frogs to restore health; target the snakes first since they have lower defense.
Frog's hideout. Near the top, you'll hear rustling. A single green bush in the center rustles occasionally. Walk around it - you can climb down the backside where a ladder exists.
Inside is a bedroom in the middle of a forest. Grab the Magic Scarf from the chest in the top right. Head left; a voice yells down asking who's there. Frog drops from the ceiling, surprised to see you. Upon hearing about the king, he walks to the corner and says "'Tis nary a thing I canst do... Please be on thy way." He claims he's no hero and won't help.
Leave him be; there's nothing you can do here yet. You'll need to restore his confidence by finding the Masamune.
Denadoro Mountains Entrance
Head to the mountain range northeast of Dorino. Bring Lucca - NPCs in town mention that if you meet a goblin with a hammer, your best bet is to burn it. Without fire, the goblin becomes much stronger.
At the entrance, grab 300G from the chest. Exit to the right of the ladder to find a chest partially hidden by leaves containing a Mirage Hand (weapon for Robo). Head back and take the ladder. You'll encounter Tata, the "legendary hero," being chased by a Goblin. Kill the Goblin. An Ogan appears; have Lucca burn its hammer to weaken it.
After the fight, you're officially in the next chapter. Time to climb the mountains and find the Masamune.
